What if your signature scent didn’t have to be just one scent? PHLUR approaches fragrance as something more fluid — an extension of mood, memory, personal style and whoever we happen to be that day.
Scent has an extraordinary ability to transport us. A perfume can bring back a person we haven’t thought about in years, the way sunscreen can return us to one particular summer, or the way woodsmoke, citrus, jasmine and freshly washed sheets can reach a memory before we even understand where it’s taking us. Maybe that’s why choosing a fragrance feels so personal. For years we were told to find a signature scent — one fragrance that somehow summed up who we were and became synonymous with us.
PHLUR has a different idea. Rather than asking one fragrance to define us, the modern fine-fragrance brand encourages building something closer to a fragrance wardrobe: scents chosen by mood, moment and whichever version of ourselves we feel like being that day. We find that idea far more interesting.

What Is PHLUR?
PHLUR is a modern fine-fragrance brand led by Creative Director Chriselle Lim, creating perfumes, body mists and body products built around scent as a form of personal expression.
The brand originally emerged as an early participant in the clean-fragrance movement. When Lim joined PHLUR in 2021, both she and the company were entering periods of change — for Lim, that came after a divorce and the start of a new personal chapter; for PHLUR, it was a chance to reconsider what the brand could become. The two stories ended up converging.
Lim had spent much of her career in fashion but saw an inherent connection between fashion and fragrance: both let us communicate something about ourselves without saying it aloud. Under her creative direction, PHLUR has leaned further into that emotional relationship with scent, built around a philosophy that’s refreshingly permissive — we’re complicated, we change, and our fragrance can change with us. Some days call for something intimate, others something sensual, playful, comforting, or a scent that announces itself the moment we walk into a room. Why should all of those versions of ourselves smell the same?

Fragrance as Part of Getting Dressed
We tend to think of fragrance as the final step in getting dressed: clothes, jewelry, shoes, and then a spray of perfume before walking out the door. But scent can be just as expressive as everything that comes before it, subtly shaping how we feel and how we want to move through the day.
Some mornings call for something warm and enveloping, almost like pulling on a favorite cashmere sweater. On others, a bright citrus feels energizing, while a soft, skin-like musk can feel intimate and understated. As evening approaches, deeper woods and amber can shift the mood entirely. Fragrance becomes less of a finishing touch and more another layer of what we choose to wear.
This is what makes PHLUR‘s approach feel so natural. We don’t dress the same way every day, listen to the same music, or want our surroundings to feel exactly the same from season to season. Our moods change, our tastes evolve, and the way we express ourselves moves with them. Why shouldn’t fragrance have that same freedom?
PHLUR’s New Vanilla Canyon
The latest addition to the PHLUR fragrance wardrobe is Vanilla Canyon, a 50mL eau de parfum built around warm vanilla and oak — though not vanilla interpreted purely as dessert. PHLUR describes it as a more soulful approach to the note, inspired by vast landscapes, open roads and the feeling of possibility that comes from looking toward the horizon.
The fragrance opens with velvet plum and tonka bean, moves into jasmine petals and wild honey, and settles into a base of Madagascar vanilla, patchouli and oak wood. The oak is what makes the composition interesting to us: vanilla can easily drift toward the sugary and gourmand, but here the sweetness is grounded by wood, patchouli and tonka, giving it warmth without asking vanilla to behave like confectionery.
Perfumer Jérôme Epinette built Vanilla Canyon around that tension — PHLUR says it was conceived as a less sugary, more soulful interpretation of vanilla, with the wood and patchouli providing depth against the honeyed warmth. It feels appropriate for PHLUR: familiar, but not quite what you expected.

The PHLUR Fragrances to Know
Vanilla Canyon joins a fragrance collection that deliberately moves between very different moods.
- Missing Person — one of PHLUR’s bestsellers, floral-musk
- Father Figure — woody fresh
- Vanilla Skin — woody gourmand
- Cherry Stem — fruit and woods
- Golden Rule — floral citrus
- Afterglow — woody amber
The differences matter because PHLUR isn’t really asking you to decide which one represents you forever — you can be Vanilla Skin one evening and Missing Person the next, and that’s the pleasure of it.

Start With the PHLUR Discovery Set
Buying fragrance online presents an obvious problem: you can’t smell the internet. And even in person, the first spray only tells part of the story — perfume needs time to settle onto skin, move through its notes and interact with your own body chemistry. Something you adore in the first five minutes can feel entirely different hours later, and something you overlook at first can become the fragrance you keep reaching for.
That is why, if you are new to PHLUR, we would begin with the Discovery Set rather than a full bottle. PHLUR’s current Fragrance Discovery Set ntains eight 2mL eau de parfum samples spanning newer releases and bestsellers.
It gives you permission to do what we think everyone should do before committing to a fragrance: live with it. Wear one to dinner, try another on a slow Sunday morning, notice which one you reach for without thinking, see what’s still on your sweater the next day. PHLUR actively embraces layering too, so a discovery set becomes less about picking a winner and more about learning what you actually enjoy wearing.
At the time of publication, purchasing the Discovery Set also unlocks a $20 credit toward a full-size fragrance — PHLUR describes it as a limited-time offer, so we’d check current terms before buying. Testing what you love before you commit is exactly the kind of thing we wish more fragrance houses encouraged.

PHLUR Sets Make Fragrance Particularly Giftable
Fragrance has always been a beautiful gift and a notoriously difficult one — choosing a full bottle for someone else assumes you know something incredibly personal about their taste. A set changes that. PHLUR currently offers a range of smaller-format fragrance and body-mist collections, including its Discovery Set, Mini Perfume Coffret, Mini Bestsellers and curated body-mist sets, and we like these not only as gifts for someone else but as gifts to yourself. A collection of smaller fragrances fits naturally with PHLUR’s philosophy: instead of committing to one identity, you get to choose.
What About PHLUR and “Clean” Fragrance?
There’s an interesting evolution in the PHLUR story. The company was an early participant in what became known as the clean fragrance category, but today PHLUR deliberately says it no longer uses the word “clean.” That distinction caught our attention.
Rather than reducing fragrance ingredients to a simple natural-good, synthetic-bad binary, PHLUR says it works with major fragrance suppliers to think about formulation differently:
+ Sustainable natural materials where they hold up
+ Nature-identical synthetic ingredients when they offer a more sustainable or thoughtful alternative, or give perfumers greater creative possibilities
+ A rejection of simple labels — natural doesn’t automatically mean sustainable, and synthetic doesn’t automatically mean undesirable
Sometimes refinement comes from asking better questions rather than reaching for simpler labels.

A More Considered Approach to Packaging
PHLUR also says it’s been working to reduce the environmental impact of its packaging. Since 2021, the company says it has reduced plastic and paper use, incorporated post-consumer recycled materials where possible, and prints its cartons on FSC-certified paper sourced from responsibly managed forests. No physical product exists without an environmental footprint, fragrance included — what we appreciate here is the acknowledgment that beauty and responsibility have to exist in the same conversation.
Who Is PHLUR For?
PHLUR makes particular sense for someone who loves fragrance but has never quite believed in the idea of having only one signature scent.
+ The person whose perfume changes with the season.
+ The person who chooses fragrance according to where they’re going.
+ The person who likes experimenting with layering.
+ The person who’s curious about modern perfumery but doesn’t want the ceremony or intimidation that can surround traditional fragrance
+ And perhaps most of all, the person who sees fragrance not simply as something that makes us smell good, but as another way of creating atmosphere around ourselves — much like getting dressed, lighting a candle at home, or choosing the music that fills a room

Wear What Feels Like You
At Dwellrefine, we keep returning to the idea that refinement isn’t about arriving at one perfect, finished version of ourselves. We change — our homes change, our bodies change, our tastes change, and the places we move through change us. Maybe our fragrance should be allowed to change too.
There doesn’t have to be one bottle on the dresser that explains who you are. There can be the fragrance you wear when you want to feel grounded, another when you want to disappear into yourself, one that reminds you of summer, one that belongs to evenings, and one you haven’t met yet. PHLUR makes fragrance feel less like choosing an identity and more like expressing the one you are in today — and we like the freedom in that.
